OUR FIRST BLOG

Welcome to the Barter Blog. We are excited to share our barter experiences with you and are hopeful that you will share your thoughts, ideas and trade experiences with us. Together we can all attain success as we embark on an adventure like no other….
BARTER? TRADE? SWAP? EXCHANGE? What does it all mean? Could it be as simple as it sounds?

In 1874 a weekly newspaper showed a man engaging in offering chickens in exchange for his yearly newspaper subscription.

Today, we all have products and services that we want and need. We have products or services we no longer need or we have too many products on our shelves with no immediate buyers.

To kick off this Blog, we will be addressing the top QUESTIONS that have come from barter/trade exchange members.

“What if I can’t spend my trade dollars?”

Before you start in barter it is extremely important to create a spend-down list of goods and services
that you would buy on trade. This list should be up-dated on a regular basis. A good trade exchange program today should have a list of over $1million of goods and services.

Maine Trade Banc is a member of Trade Banc National which provides a software platform for trading and has reciprocal association with other trade exchanges throughout the country.

When my friend just started bartering, she was sure that all she wanted was travel opportunities. Her list has grown as she has realized that she now has the opportunity to check the Maine Trade Banc for items that she currently pays U.S. dollars for.
Do you get your hair done?
